Borough of Manasquan, New Jersey

As a result of our meeting with JCP&L today, the Borough of Manasquan has temporarily prevented the excavation of the trees targeted in our community in “lock out zones.”  These zones are defined by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.

In Manasquan, “lock out zones” are located in:

  • East Main Street from the railroad to First Avenue/also from East Main Street north on Third Avenue to parking lot area.
  • Route 71 from Stockton Lake Boulevard to Brielle
    • Stockton Lake Boulevard from Rt. 71 west to Parker Avenue
    • Curtis from Route 71 east to the rail line
    • East and west on Main Street from Rt. 71 for approximately 1 block
  • Portions of South Street, Virginia Avenue, Marcellus on the corner of South Street
    • Main Street from Rt. 71 to Broad and South Streets, then South Street to Morris
  • Atlantic Avenue to Broad Street, Broad Street to Beams, and Broad Street to Blakey to Curtis to Rt 71 to Stockton Lake Boulevard to the train line.
  • Stockton Lake Boulevard at the rail line from east to North Potter to the length of Ocean Avenue; Portions of McClean and McClellan
  • Portion of North Potter; First Avenue from Ocean Avenue north to Sea Girt border.

While the list above is not all inclusive, it presents a clearer picture of the extent of the tree excavation.

At our next scheduled meeting of the Mayor and Council, Tuesday January 19th at 7:00pm, JCP&L representative John Meehan, will be listed on the agenda as a guest to discuss this issue.  We ask for your participation and attendance at this meeting.
