Storm Preparation Notice.

Based on current weather forecasts we may experience a significant snow event overnight into Sunday morning. In order for the Public Works Department to efficiently salt and plow the roads we ask that you remove your vehicles from the roadway and keep them off until the roads have been completely cleared.

Parking Restrictions:
Based on current weather forecasts we may experience a significant snow event this week. In order for the Public Works Department to efficiently salt and plow the roads we ask that you remove your vehicles from the roadway and keep them off until the roads have been completely cleared per Borough Code Chapter 7-7.3 “Temporary Parking Prohibition for Snow Plowing and Removal.”  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Residents are permitted to park anywhere on their property during this time frame so as long as it does not block access to the front door.

As an option, the following municipal parking lots are also available for residents to park:
-North Main Street Parking Lot
-South Street Parking Lot 
-Squan Plaza Parking Lot

The Borough does not advise residents to park in municipal lots east of the railroad tracks.  These parking lots are located in low lying areas and susceptible to flooding.

DO NOT park in the Borough Hall Parking lot or at the Lifesaving Station. This area will be used for emergency and essential personnel.

Garbage and Recycling Pick Up:
Curbside Garbage  has been cancelled for tomorrow, Saturday January 23th and will be picked up on their next regularly scheduled pick-up day

Borough Services:
The Borough’s previously scheduled budget meeting for Saturday morning has been canceled and rescheduled for Wednesday at 7pm at Borough Hall 201 East Main Street.

Sidewalks, Hydrants and other items:
Once the storm subsides, please ensure sidewalks are cleared of snow and ice and clear fire hydrants near your home.  Portable Basketball backboards should be removed and stored indoors.

Police Emergency Services
Please do not call 911 or Police Dispatch unless it is an actual emergency.

Power Information:

JCP&L has activated its storm preparation plan and has additional line and forestry crews on stand-by to respond should outages occur.

Customers who are without power are encouraged to call 1-888-544-4877 to report their outage or click the “Report Outage” link onwww.firstenergycorp.com. Customers should immediately report downed wires to the Manasquan Police department. Customers should never go near a downed power line, even if they think it is no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled in trees or other debris.
