As you are aware, the Borough of Manasquan is currently in the process of construction on a new state-of-the-art water treatment facility. This new plant will replace the existing one, which was built in 1903 and no longer adequately meets the ever increasing needs of our growing community.
Construction began in 2010, with the goal of completion on May 29, 2011. This goal date was set with the intention of completing the project prior to the start of the summer season.
The project is 80% completed. However, upon scheduled inspection, it was determined that two wells are in need of replacement due to wear and tear. Rather than wait for a later date to repair these wells, it was recommended to replace these wells at the present time as the most cost effective and efficient approach.
Currently, our engineering firm is negotiating with the contractor for the replacement these wells. Unfortunately, this will cause a delay in our completion date.
The revised anticipated date of completion is mid November, depending on the negotiations between the Borough and the Contractor for the replacements of Wells 2 and 6. Assuming no unforeseen circumstances, there will be no disruption of water service.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. If you have any questions, please contact the Borough Administrator, Joe DeIorio, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 732-223-9530.
